Liverpool's attack is set for a major overhaul this summer, with the club preparing for life without their Egyptian icon. Mohamed Salah will depart Anfield after nine trophy-laden seasons, as the Premier League champions have agreed to terminate his £400,000-per-week contract a year early.
The exodus doesn't stop there. Federico Chiesa, whose English adventure never truly caught fire, is also expected to head for the exit. Meanwhile, Arne Slot has been hesitant to give teenage talent Rio Ngumoha significant minutes, with Cody Gakpo consistently soaking up game time on the left flank.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Liverpool's recruitment team has identified a key priority: adding more one-on-one attacking threat out wide. Sporting director Richard Hughes has been linked with exciting prospects like Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola, but a golden opportunity to land one of Europe's elite wingers may now be on the table.
According to reports from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among the clubs contacted about signing AC Milan's Rafael Leao. The Portuguese star, 26, still has a contract with the Rossoneri until 2028, but Milan recognize they may struggle to extend his stay. As a result, they're willing to entertain offers in the region of £43 million (€50 million)—an absolute steal for a player of Leao's caliber.
"AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has been offered to a number of top Premier League clubs," the report states. "They would be open to letting Leao leave for a fee in the region of €50million (£43.1m / $58.7m) – a valuation that is already alerting clubs across Europe. Man Utd are among the clubs approached. Further approaches have also been made to Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. All three clubs have tracked Leao previously and continue to hold an appreciation for his qualities."
For Liverpool fans dreaming of a dynamic new frontline, this could be the perfect opportunity to add a world-class talent at a bargain price. Whether Hughes can fend off fierce Premier League competition remains to be seen, but the prospect of seeing Leao in red is certainly one to get excited about.
