Retired All-Pro safety Justin Simmons isn't holding back when it comes to his feelings about the Kansas City Chiefs. During a recent appearance on the DNVR podcast, the former Denver Broncos standout made it crystal clear that his rivalry with the Chiefs is far from over—even in retirement.
"I do not like them. I don't like any part of most of their team," Simmons said bluntly. "I got a lot of respect for a lot of the great players, but when we were losing to them, they made sure we knew that we were losing to them. I didn't like that, so I have full hatred for them."
Simmons, who signed a one-day contract on April 29 to officially retire as a Bronco, was a key figure in Denver's secondary during the Patrick Mahomes era. In fact, he intercepted Mahomes six times—more than any other defensive back—making him one of the few players to consistently challenge the Chiefs' high-powered offense.
Despite his disdain for the team on the field, Simmons was quick to separate his feelings from the organization's leadership. "I think the Hunt family is, like, top class. At least outside looking in, I think they are," he explained. "I've always had a lot of respect for Andy Reid and a lot of different people. But the Kansas City Chiefs—not the fans, not necessarily the ownership or anything—just the fact that we're the Broncos and they're the Chiefs. I don't like y'all, and y'all don't have to like me. That's fine."
Simmons didn't stop there. He admitted he took particular satisfaction in watching the Chiefs fall to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. For this Broncos legend, the rivalry is personal—and it's one that will endure long after his cleats are hung up.
Whether you're a Chiefs fan or a Broncos loyalist, Simmons' honesty is a reminder of what makes NFL rivalries so electrifying. And for fans looking to rep their team's colors—whether it's Broncos orange or Chiefs red—there's no better way to show your allegiance than with game-day gear that matches your passion.
