Whew; we wouldn't want to be on the other end of this line of questioning.

The hockey world is still buzzing after the Toronto Maple Leafs made a head-turning decision to hire John Chayka as their new general manager—and not everyone is thrilled about it.

To put it kindly, the move is polarizing. Chayka, the former Arizona Coyotes GM, carries significant baggage from his controversial tenure there. He wasn't exactly the most sought-after candidate in the NHL's GM pool, which makes his appointment to one of the league's flagship franchises all the more puzzling to many.

On Monday, Toronto Sun reporter Steve Simmons didn't hold back when he confronted Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment CEO and president Keith Pelley about the hire. The exchange was nothing short of fiery, with Simmons delivering a pointed question that cut straight to the heart of the controversy.

Simmons even shared the results of a brutal NHL personnel poll he conducted: 19 out of 20 people surveyed called the hire a "sham," describing Chayka as a "con artist," "liar," and "salesman." Pelley's response did little to calm the storm, leaving many wondering what the Leafs' front office is thinking.

For Maple Leafs fans, this doesn't look like the start of a smooth chapter. With the pressure already high in Toronto, this hire adds another layer of uncertainty to an organization that can't afford any missteps.
