The New England Patriots are expected to acquire A.J Brown in the coming weeks, but one insider reports that Brown is not the only asset the team could be getting.

The New England Patriots are on the verge of a major offensive upgrade, with reports indicating they're "likely" to land star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles after June 1. But according to Patriots insider Tom Curran, the deal might include more than just Brown—potentially softening the steep price tag for New England.

Brown, one of the NFL's elite receivers, has long dreamed of playing for his childhood team and reuniting with head coach Mike Vrabel. The Eagles' decision to draft a first-round wideout, combined with the Patriots passing on receivers in this year's draft, has fueled speculation that a trade is imminent. While the cost has been widely expected to be a first-round pick—likely a 2028 selection—Curran suggests the Patriots could receive additional assets in return.

"From what I've heard, this is a future first-rounder, but there could be something in return that would set it up so that it's not as much for the New England Patriots to give," Curran explained. A straight swap of a first-round pick for Brown, who commands a hefty contract, is a significant investment. Adding a draft pick or a player from the Eagles would help balance the scales for New England.

The Patriots already bolstered their receiving corps this offseason by signing Romeo Doubs, giving them leverage to potentially walk away if the Eagles don't sweeten the deal. Philadelphia could explore other suitors, but they might struggle to match the Patriots' offer. With all signs pointing toward a finalized agreement, the only remaining question is the exact compensation—and whether New England walks away with more than just one of the NFL's most dynamic playmakers.
