The New York Giants have engaged in trade conversations involving defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux, with the New Orleans Saints among the teams showing strong interest, reports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.

Schultz says a deal could come together as soon as Friday night, as the Giants have been open to listening on the former fifth-overall pick from the 2022 draft.

The report arrives one day after head coach John Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen reaffirmed their plan to retain Thibodeaux following the first round of the 2026 NFL draft.

"No, no, we keep all the good players as much as we can. Right? We love Kayvon," Harbaugh told reporters.

While Harbaugh said the organization loves the player and aims to keep its best talent, he had noted earlier that every player is tradable under the right circumstances.

The latest discussions mark a shift from earlier in the week, when the Giants pulled back on Thibodeaux trade talks after sending nose tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals. Any potential deal would likely center on draft compensation, most likely a fourth-round pick, though a third-round selection has been mentioned as a more ambitious target.

The Giants and Saints had reportedly discussed a trade for Thibodeaux back in February.

This has been a long-going conversation. Tires were kicked back in February. I think the price might have to dip a little to make it happen. https://t.co/qgCciAOuNW

Thibodeaux is entering the final year of his rookie contract (fifth-year option) and remains part of a deep edge group that includes Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.
