That vacancy was initially earmarked for Wake Forest transfer Juke Harris, but Michigan appears to have pivoted after falling out of contention for the talented wing. According to multiple reports, first broken by Josh Henschke of The Maize and Blue Review, Michigan is now monitoring Cal Poly transfer wing Hamad Mousa. "It's unclear how far along the information gathering stage on Mousa is, but national sources have confirmed that Mousa is a name to keep an eye on moving forward," Henschke wrote.

So, who is Hamad Mousa? Standing 6-foot-8 and 200 pounds, the Qatar native began his college career at Dayton before transferring to Cal Poly last offseason. After limited playing time as a freshman, Mousa exploded onto the scene in 2024-25. Averaging 31.3 minutes per game, he posted impressive numbers: 20.4 points (best in the Big West), 6.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per contest. His shooting splits are equally eye-catching — 44.3 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from three-point range (on 7.2 attempts per game), and an elite 87.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Those performances earned Mousa First-Team All-Big West honors, Second-Team NABC All-Pacific recognition, and a spot as a finalist for the Riley Wallace Award, given to the most impactful Division I transfer. With his size, scoring ability, and perimeter shooting, Mousa could be a perfect fit for Michigan's system — and a strong candidate to fill that final roster spot.
