Juventus are reportedly exploring a bold move for rising star Noah Atubolu, the Freiburg goalkeeper who has been offered to the Bianconeri as they search for a new shot-stopper.
The Italian giants are looking to upgrade their goalkeeping department after Michele Di Gregorio's inconsistent form this season. The 28-year-old has made several costly errors, particularly in the second half of the campaign, prompting Juventus to assess their options ahead of the transfer window.
Atubolu, 23, has enjoyed a standout season with Freiburg, making 48 appearances across all competitions while keeping 12 clean sheets. The German-born goalkeeper of Nigerian descent has been with his hometown club since childhood, rising through the ranks to become a first-team regular in 2021.
His performances have been crucial to Freiburg's remarkable Europa League run, with the Bundesliga side now set to face Aston Villa in the final on May 20 in Istanbul. Atubolu's contract runs until June 2027, which could make him available at a reduced fee, though Freiburg are hoping to spark a bidding war with Bayern Munich and Napoli also showing interest.
However, Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is reportedly pushing for a more experienced option. The 67-year-old coach is keen on reuniting with his former Roma star Alisson Becker, who has emerged as the club's top target. The 33-year-old Brazilian is said to be open to the move, though convincing Liverpool to part ways with their star goalkeeper remains a significant challenge.
As a fallback option, Fiorentina's David De Gea has been identified as the primary alternative should the Alisson pursuit fail. With the summer transfer window approaching, Juventus face a crucial decision between investing in youth with Atubolu or securing a proven veteran to solidify their defense for the seasons ahead.
