Chelsea are casting a wide net in their search for a permanent head coach, with reports confirming talks have been held with three high-profile candidates. The Blues are looking to move beyond Liam Rosenior's brief 106-day tenure and install a leader capable of restoring stability at Stamford Bridge.

Xabi Alonso leads the list, and it's easy to see why. The Spaniard's playing career commands instant respect, but it's his coaching achievements at Bayer Leverkusen that have truly turned heads. An unbeaten domestic season and a first Bundesliga title in 2023-24 marked one of modern football's great managerial statements. However, Chelsea are aware of the risks too. Alonso's brief stint at Real Madrid ended after just seven months when relationships with star players soured. In a Chelsea dressing room that needs both authority and connection, that experience matters.

Andoni Iraola presents another compelling option. Bournemouth are currently on a 16-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, climbing to sixth after a 1-0 win over Fulham. His football offers structure, edge, and clarity—qualities Chelsea have often lacked this season. Meanwhile, Marco Silva brings Premier League experience and emotional intelligence. His Fulham contract expires this summer, and while new terms are on the table, his future remains uncertain.

Internally, former Chelsea defender Filipe Luís has also been discussed, along with another unnamed candidate. The club have promised self-reflection after Rosenior's dismissal, and Calum McFarlane has taken interim charge ahead of Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City.

For Chelsea, the challenge is clear. They have enough talent in the squad. What they need now is a coach whose ideas can survive beyond the first setback. With Alonso's Liverpool connections adding extra intrigue, this appointment could define the club's direction for years to come.
