The University of Utah men's basketball program is facing another significant roster shift as the transfer portal opens. According to a report from ESPN's Jeff Borzello, junior wing Seydou Traore intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Traore, a 6-foot-6 starter, was a consistent presence for the Runnin' Utes this past season, averaging 9.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while starting all 31 games he played. He announced his decision on Tuesday, the very first day of the transfer window, signaling a quick start to what promises to be a busy offseason for college hoops.

His tenure in Salt Lake City was highlighted by a strong debut, where he dropped a career-high 23 points in a win over San Jose State. Traore proved to be a reliable scorer in conference play, reaching double figures 14 times overall, including seven times in a critical nine-game stretch during Big 12 competition.

This move continues a concerning trend for Utah. Traore becomes the eighth Ute reportedly planning to enter the portal this offseason, joining fellow starters Terrence Brown and Keanu Dawes, as well as Ibi Traore, Josh Hayes, Alvin Jackson III, Jahki Howard, and Elijah "Choppa" Moore. This exodus marks the second consecutive year the program has been heavily impacted by transfer activity.

Having previously played a year each at Iowa and Manhattan before his single season with Utah, Traore will utilize his final year of eligibility at a new program. The transfer portal window for Division I men's basketball remains open until April 21, setting the stage for a major roster reshuffle across the country.
