The San Francisco 49ers are putting the finishing touches on their 2026 pre-draft evaluations, and a fascinating hybrid prospect has reportedly caught their eye. According to reports, the team recently met with Oklahoma linebacker Kendal Daniels.
Daniels brings a unique background to the linebacker position. After spending his first three collegiate seasons as a safety at Oklahoma State, he successfully transitioned to linebacker. His first year in the new role saw him post 53 combined tackles and nine tackles for a loss in 2025, building on a stellar final safety season where he racked up 240 tackles and five interceptions.
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-5 and 242 pounds, Daniels represents the modern, versatile defender that NFL teams covet. His blend of size and defensive back experience could allow him to carve out a specialized role in defensive coordinator Raheem Morris's scheme. Currently projected as a Day 3 selection, the 49ers might look to secure his potential with one of their fourth-round picks or by maneuvering back into the later rounds if they believe his unique skill set is a perfect fit for their defensive vision.
