Reigning Supercars champion Chaz Mostert is set to make a thrilling return to American soil, joining Vasser Sullivan Racing to pilot the No. 15 Lexus RC F GT3 at the Detroit IMSA race on May 30.
The 34-year-old Australian ace will share driving duties with Aaron Telitz in the 100-minute GTD Pro sprint race, navigating the challenging street circuit of Detroit. While this marks his first appearance at the Motor City event, Mostert is no stranger to IMSA competition. He boasts three Rolex 24 starts, including a class victory with BMW Team RLL in 2020, and competed in the 2018 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Mostert’s resume reads like a highlight reel of global motorsport excellence. Beyond his 28 Supercars wins—including two Bathurst 1000 triumphs and the 2025 championship—he has conquered the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (Pro-Am class, 2023), the Bathurst Six Hour (B1 class, 2016), and the Bathurst 12 Hour (overall, 2023). He also secured an Australian GT title in 2024 and a TCR Australia championship in 2021.
“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to race for Vasser Sullivan,” Mostert said. “I’ve raced in the States a few times and always thought that the team looks so professional and like a tightknit family, so it’s an honor to be able to race for them. The Lexus RC F GT3 car looks incredible, and I can’t wait to get my first laps. Being an Australian driver joining the Toyota-Lexus family is a pinch-yourself moment. I love street tracks and am looking forward to the challenge. I can’t thank my Supercar team, Walkinshaw TWG Racing, enough for allowing me to compete.”
For fans eager to catch the action, the Detroit Grand Prix will air live and flag-to-flag on NBC and Peacock on Saturday, May 30, starting at 4 p.m. ET. Whether you’re a seasoned racing enthusiast or new to the sport, this cross-continental showdown promises high-octane excitement—and a perfect excuse to gear up in your favorite racing-inspired apparel.
