Detroit Pistons forward Ausar Thompson was tripped at the end of regulation in Game 5, but no foul was called. Here's the pool report from referees.

The Detroit Pistons are left wondering what could have been after a controversial no-call in the final seconds of regulation during Game 5 against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The top-seeded Pistons ultimately fell 117-113 in overtime at Little Caesars Arena, but the game's most heated moment came with the score tied at 103-103 and under two seconds left on the clock.

Pistons forward Ausar Thompson, known for his tenacious defense, blocked a shot from Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell and immediately lunged for the loose ball. As he dove, it appeared that Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen tripped him, potentially drawing a foul that would have sent Thompson to the free-throw line with a chance to win the game. Instead, the referees let the play go, and the game headed to overtime.

After the final buzzer, crew chief Tony Brothers explained the decision in the pool report. "During live play, both players were going for the ball and there was incidental contact with the legs with no player having possession of the ball," Brothers said. "The play will be reviewed by the league office tomorrow and it will be posted in the L2M."

For his part, Thompson took the high road despite the missed call. He noted that the referees "didn't give a lot of explanations in general" throughout the game but refused to pin the loss on the officials. "Can't blame the refs," Thompson said. "We can't put ourselves in these positions."

The no-call is a tough pill to swallow for Pistons fans, especially in a playoff series that has already seen its share of physical play. For a young Detroit team looking to make a statement, every possession matters—and this one will be replayed in highlight reels and debates for days to come.
