Chase Burns continues to operate with the perfect name for the way he plays the game of baseball.

The flamethrowing right-handed pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds is a rising star, and he made a a little bit of history on Tuesday night.

Burns notched a personal milestone, his 100th career strikeout.

He's the fastest pitcher in Cincinnati franchise history to reach 100 Ks, according to the Reds' TV broadcast. It came in just 72.1 innings pitched for Burns.

And he even did it in a fitting way -- his 100th career strikeout came on a 100 MPH fastball.

When the Reds drafted Burns No. 2 overall in the 2024 MLB Draft, it was clear he had immense upside. He didn't even pitch the rest of his draft year to protect his arm, and that still didn't stop him from arriving in the majors midway through the 2025 season.

Burns showed off all his impressive stuff last year but also got hit around some. This season, he's been sharper and avoided the big damage. His ERA is currently 2.65.

If Burns can keep this level of performance up, the Reds can likely keep rolling the way they are.

There'll always be fears with an arm like Burns about injuries, but that's just part of the game. The Reds will be careful with him to an extent, but he also has simply been gifted with immense physical tools. And so far, he's off to a historic start to his Cincinnati pitching career.
