Payton Tolle made a statement in his first career MLB win, and the Boston Red Sox couldn't be happier. The left-hander delivered an "awesome outing" against the Detroit Tigers on Monday, going seven strong innings and allowing just two unearned runs on one hit while striking out eight. It was a performance that had his teammates and interim manager Chad Tracy singing his praises.

"You guys have gotten to know his personality," Tracy said after the game. "And he doesn't change much when he's pitching. He is pretty happy-go-lucky. In big moments, he sees red, and he goes after it. So we're proud of him. Awesome outing."

Tolle, known for his calm demeanor on the mound, credited the coaching staff for trusting him to go deep into the game. "I was thankful that they kept letting me go," he said. "They told the fans to go underneath the structure and I was like, 'Are we about to call this?' I was happy to keep going out there."

The celebration was just as memorable. After the game, Tracy gave Tolle the lineup card as a keepsake, while his teammates doused him in beer in the clubhouse. Outfielder Jarren Duran revealed that Tolle delivered a legendary postgame speech that fans unfortunately missed. "Yeah, too bad you guys didn't get to hear his speech," Duran said. "It was 1/1. That guy's always got something to say, and I love it. I can't wait to see more come his way."

The win improved Boston's record to 14-21 as they continue to find their rhythm this season. The Red Sox will look to build on this momentum when they face the Tigers again on Tuesday at 6:40 p.m. ET in the second game of their three-game series.
