Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that outfielder Roman Anthony's back injury would likely cost him just one game.
Now, two days later, Anthony is set to begin the Red Sox's series-opener vs. the Baltimore Orioles on Friday on the bench for the third straight contest.
"📍Baltimore," the Red Sox's official account posted on Bluesky, along with the team's starting lineup.
Anthony missed Thursday's series finale against the New York Yankees due to the injury, though Cora said the 21-year-old would be available off the bench.
Anthony said before Thursday's loss that he'd be "ready to play in the next couple of days" and would "be back out there soon."
The former second-round pick has recorded one home run, four RBIs and a .225/.361/.325 slash line over 97 plate appearances this season.
