Mizzou Football is already making waves with its 2027 recruiting class, and one of the most exciting additions comes straight from home. Jack Brown, a four-star tight end from Francis Howell Central in St. Louis, officially committed to the Tigers on March 17th, becoming the fourth player to join the class.
Brown is currently ranked as the top player in the state of Missouri for the 2027 cycle, and his stats back up the hype. As a junior, he tied for the team lead with six touchdowns, adding 25 receptions and 243 receiving yards. With a senior season still ahead of him in St. Louis County, there's plenty of room for growth—and plenty of reason for Mizzou fans to be excited.
The timing of Brown's commitment couldn't be better. Missouri is set to lose key tight ends Jordon Harris and Brett Norfleet after the 2026 season, making the position a clear need in this recruiting cycle. Brown will bring reliable depth alongside contributors Gavin Hoffman and Jude James, giving the Tigers a strong foundation for the future.
Of course, playing time for any freshman in the SEC is always a question mark, and Mizzou may still look to the transfer portal for an experienced tight end. But if recent history is any guide, Brown could make an early impact. In his freshman season, Brett Norfleet played in 12 games, hauling in 18 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns—earning him a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2023. It's not hard to imagine Brown following a similar path.
With a top-tier skill set and the potential to thrive under head coach Eli Drinkwitz's offensive scheme, Jack Brown has all the makings of Mizzou's next tight end star. The talent is undeniable, and if the coaching staff can put him in the right positions, the Tigers may have just landed a game-changer for years to come.
