Warren Central wide receiver Zechariah Wallace is making moves in his recruitment, trimming his list of potential schools down to five. After a standout junior season where he hauled in 42 catches for 728 yards and 11 touchdowns, Wallace is now focused on Chattanooga, Illinois State, North Dakota State, Stony Brook, and Western Michigan.
He's already locked in a busy schedule of official visits, starting with Illinois State on May 10-11, followed by Western Michigan on May 29-31, Stony Brook on June 12-13, and North Dakota State on June 16-18. A visit to Chattanooga is expected to come later in the process. Notably, Illinois State already has a commitment from one of Indiana's top 2027 quarterbacks, Brownsburg's Oscar Frye, which could make for an intriguing connection.
In other local recruiting news, here's what's happening with some of the state's top prospects:
Sean Fox, Wallace's teammate at Warren Central and one of Indiana's premier linebacker prospects, is heading to Georgia this weekend for his first official visit. Rated as a four-star recruit by 247Sports and the No. 3 prospect in the state for the 2027 class, Fox has seen his stock soar since Georgia offered him a scholarship about six weeks ago.
Caleb Johnson and Mason McDermott, two standout offensive linemen from Noblesville, are both taking official visits to Indiana this weekend. Johnson is ranked as the No. 2 in-state prospect in the class by 247Sports, trailing only Lawrence North receiver Monshun Sales, while McDermott sits at No. 7. Johnson has a packed itinerary ahead, with additional visits planned to Michigan State (May 29-31), Iowa (June 5-7), and Missouri (June 12-14). McDermott, meanwhile, recently visited Northwestern and has a June trip to UCLA on the calendar.
Errol Kerns, a defensive back from Lawrence Central, has seen his recruitment explode in recent weeks—just after committing to Miami of Ohio. The floodgates opened Thursday when he picked up an offer from Indiana, and in the past six days alone, he's added offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Northwestern, Purdue, and Texas A&M. Kerns has already scheduled official visits to Texas A&M (May 28-30) and Michigan (June 12-14), signaling his recruitment is far from settled.
With spring official visits heating up, Indiana's top talent is making waves on the national stage—and their decisions could shape the future of college football recruiting.
