In a move that marks the end of an era for Wrexham's women's team, the club's all-time leading goal scorer, Rosie Hughes, will depart this summer as her contract expires. The 30-year-old striker is among seven players leaving the Adran Premier champions, alongside Neve Adams, Leah Burke, Abbie Iddenden, Carra Jones, Erin Lovett, and Hannah Snape.

Hughes has been a cornerstone of Wrexham's remarkable ascent, playing a pivotal role in their rise from the Genero Adran North to clinching their first-ever Adran Premier title this season. Her goal-scoring prowess was on full display during the promotion-winning campaign three years ago, where she netted an astonishing 24 goals in just nine games—a feat that turned heads across Welsh women's football.

This season, Hughes contributed nine league goals, second only to teammate Katie Barker, despite starting only six matches. Her impact goes beyond numbers: in October 2023, she scored her 100th goal for Wrexham in just 46 appearances, achieving the milestone during a 3-1 victory over The New Saints. Just a month later, she became the first woman to reach 100 appearances for the club since the side's reformation in 2018, marking the occasion with a four-goal haul in an 11-0 Welsh Cup win over NFA.

The squad is also seeing three players retire from playing duties. Former captain Keren Allen and midfielder Mari Gibbard are hanging up their boots, while goalkeeper Chloe Ankers is pausing her playing career to focus on coaching. On a positive note, Katie Barker, Jodie Bartle, Maria Francis-Jones, and Lili Jones are already under contract for the 2026-27 season, and 10 other players have been offered new deals.

As Wrexham prepares for their Champions League debut and the defense of their league title, Hughes' departure leaves big boots to fill—both on the pitch and in the hearts of fans who've watched her rewrite the record books.
