The Real Madrid Foundation has once again stepped up to the plate, renewing its partnership with the Alcohol and Society Foundation in a powerful initiative aimed at preventing underage drinking. What started as a promising collaboration in 2021 continues to grow, proving that sport can be a game-changer in promoting healthy lifestyles among young people.
This morning’s renewal ceremony brought together two key figures: Emilio Butragueño, Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations, and Silvia Jato, Director of Institutional Relations at the Alcohol and Society Foundation. Together, they reaffirmed a shared mission to educate and empower children through the values of sport.
At the heart of this renewed commitment is the “Not a Drop for Minors” educational program, which will continue to be a staple at Real Madrid Foundation camps. The program isn’t just about saying no to alcohol—it’s about teaching kids the importance of making smart, healthy choices from an early age. And it’s already making a difference.
Since the partnership kicked off, nearly 300 young athletes have participated in the program through basketball camps. But the real headline here is expansion: starting this summer, the initiative will also roll out into football camps, dramatically widening its reach and giving even more kids the tools they need to build positive habits.
Butragueño hit the nail on the head during the ceremony, emphasizing that sport is far more than just a game. “Sport plays a fundamental role in transmitting values and promoting healthy lifestyles,” he said, highlighting how the formative years are the perfect time to instill habits that last a lifetime.
Jato echoed that sentiment, adding a crucial perspective on how to make prevention truly stick. “Prevention works when we reach young people in spaces where they feel comfortable,” she explained. “Sport teaches effort, commitment, perseverance, and teamwork—values that also help foster healthy lifestyle choices and responsible decisions.”
This renewed agreement is a win for everyone involved, proving that when sport and education team up, the results can be truly inspiring. For fans and families alike, it’s a reminder that the values we wear on our sleeves—whether on the pitch or in life—matter more than ever.
