RB Leipzig are celebrating their hard-fought 2-1 victory over St. Pauli on Matchday 33, which secured a coveted spot in next season's UEFA Champions League. But while the squad and fans are enjoying the moment, club executives are already crunching the numbers for a busy summer transfer window.
According to reports from BILD, Champions League qualification will inject around €60 million into the club's coffers. However, that's just a fraction of the financial heavy lifting still required. Leipzig must generate approximately €113 million from player sales this summer—a significant but far more manageable figure than the €200 million that would have been needed had they missed out on Europe's elite competition.
So, who could be on the move? All eyes are on Castello Lukeba, whose release clause stands at a hefty €80 million. The French defender has been a rock at the back and could attract major interest from Europe's biggest clubs. Additionally, several loan players are expected to depart permanently: Arthur Vermeeren (currently at Marseille), Lutsharel Geertruida (Sunderland), and Eljif Elmas (Napoli), all of whom spent the 2025/26 campaign away from Leipzig.
While sales are a priority, the club hasn't been idle on the recruitment front. Leipzig have already secured the signings of Rocco Reitz from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Abdoul Koné from Reims—two promising additions that signal intent for the future. They're also keen on bringing Brajan Gruda back on loan from Brighton, this time with an obligation to buy.
As the summer window heats up, Leipzig fans can expect a mix of emotional goodbyes and exciting new arrivals. One thing is certain: the business side of the beautiful game is just getting started.
