The Tampa Bay Rays have been a success story this season, but need to improve their power production to become a more well-rounded team.

The Tampa Bay Rays are having a stellar season—holding the second-best record in Major League Baseball at 26-13, trailing only the Atlanta Braves (28-13). They've been on a tear recently, going 8-2 in their last 10 games and seeing a seven-game winning streak snapped on May 8. Impressively, they've already strung together three separate winning streaks of six games or more this year.

But for all their success, there's one area where the Rays are falling short: power hitting. According to MLB.com's Adam Berry, the team's "power production" needs attention if they want to stay among baseball's elite. Currently, Tampa Bay ranks 23rd in slugging percentage (.373) and 25th in home runs with just 32 on the season.

Manager Kevin Cash has acknowledged the issue, noting that the lineup should be capable of more pop. "The Rays are playing remarkably well, better than anyone expected when the season began," Berry writes. "But the numbers back up Cash's observation—they're tied for 26th in homers and 23rd in slugging. They've gotten by with pitching, defense, timely hitting, and athletic baserunning, but a little more power at the plate wouldn't hurt."

Third baseman Junior Caminero leads the team with 11 home runs, followed by first baseman Jonathan Aranda (seven) and designated hitter Yandy Díaz (five). Last season, the Rays ranked 14th in homers (182) and 13th in slugging (.401)—numbers that were boosted by playing in a minor league ballpark (George M. Steinbrenner Field) due to stadium issues.

As the team potentially shifts back to their home ballpark, the question remains: can they find that extra power to complement their already strong pitching and defense? It's a challenge that could define their season.
