Manchester United fans had plenty to talk about on Monday night as one of their loanees put in a spirited performance, even in defeat. Rasmus Hojlund, currently on loan at Napoli, showed flashes of his potential despite his team's disappointing 3-2 loss at home to Bologna—a result that dealt a major blow to their Champions League hopes.

The Danish striker has had a season of highs and lows in Italy. While his tally of 14 goals and seven assists across all competitions is impressive, his form has been inconsistent, with goals often arriving in bursts rather than steady flow. But against Bologna, Hojlund proved he can be a difference-maker even when things aren't going his team's way.

Hojlund was at the heart of both Napoli goals. For the first, he used his strength to hold up the ball in the box, and though his pass took a deflection, it fell kindly for Giovanni Di Lorenzo to fire home. His second contribution was even more direct—a classic assist. Showing excellent awareness and physicality, he shrugged off the Bologna defense and slipped a clever ball around the corner for Alisson Santos to finish smartly.

Beyond the goals, Hojlund's stats told a story of a hard-working forward. He completed 82% of his passes, made one key pass, and successfully carried the ball forward on one occasion. He also won three of his eight duels, though he failed to complete either of his dribble attempts. It wasn't a perfect performance, but it was one that highlighted his ability to impact the game in crucial moments.

For Napoli, the loss was a missed opportunity to secure a top-four finish in Serie A. They'll now need to regroup quickly, with a trip to Pisa on Sunday offering another chance to keep their Champions League dreams alive. Hojlund will undoubtedly be central to those hopes, and if he can build on this display, both Napoli and Manchester United will be watching closely.
