Washington Huskies wide receiver Rashid Williams had a strong spring game on Friday night to cap off a productive offseason.

It’s been a long road for Rashid Williams, but the Washington Huskies wide receiver finally let his talent shine when it mattered most—on the big stage of the spring game Friday night.

Once a composite four-star recruit in the 2023 class, Williams has seen limited action over three seasons, hauling in just 18 catches for 222 yards and a single touchdown in 17 games. But the numbers don’t tell the full story. During his redshirt year in 2023, he was buried behind five future NFL players on the depth chart. Then in 2024, Denzel Boston emerged as the go-to target. And just when Williams was poised to become the No. 2 receiver behind Boston in 2025, collarbone and hand injuries sidelined him for all but two games.

Through it all, Williams never wavered. He didn’t enter the transfer portal or question his future with the Huskies. Instead, he stayed the course—and it paid off. While breakout freshman Dezmen Roebuck returns and talented newcomers like Chris Lawson, Jordan Clay, and Trez Davis join the mix, it’s been Williams who has looked the most consistent throughout spring practice.

That consistency carried over to the spring game. Williams led all receivers with 65 yards, including a highlight-reel 43-yard post route touchdown from starting quarterback Demond Williams Jr. in the second quarter that tied the game at 10. The play was more than just a score—it showcased a chemistry that has been one of the biggest storylines of the spring.

The post route is a staple of head coach Jedd Fisch’s offense, a big-play generator that has defined Washington’s passing attack. And Williams ran it to perfection. While Demond Williams’ connection with Roebuck is expected—they’ve been close since middle school—his growing rapport with Rashid Williams has been a pleasant surprise. Injuries to Lawson, Clay, and transfers Christian Moss and Bodpegn Miller meant missed practice time this spring, but Williams was there, grinding every day and building trust with his quarterback.

For fans who’ve been waiting to see what Rashid Williams can do, Friday night was a glimpse of a bright future. And if his spring performance is any indication, this won’t be the last time we see that connection light up the scoreboard.
