How does left tackle Markel Bell in a New England Patriots jersey sound?
Bell is a 6-foot-9, 346-pound offensive lineman in the 2026 NFL Draft class. The Mississippi native helped Miami reach the national championship game last season in a losing effort to Indiana. Following his senior year at Miami, Bell declared for the draft. He was one of 319 prospects invited to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine. Bell was also one of the top prospects evaluated at Miami’s highly anticipated pro day this year.
The 21-year-old Bell has exceptional footwork and mobility for his size. Bell ran the 40-yard dash in 5.36 seconds at the combine. As for his performance in 2025 for Miami, Bell did not allow a sack on the year. He also allowed only nine total pressures last season.
The Patriots’ offensive line has room for more talent. New England has expressed confidence in Will Campbell as their starting left tackle despite his lackluster performance in the Super Bowl at the end of last season. Alijah Vera-Tucker’s presence in New England creates a paradigm shift on the offensive line. Jared Wilson is set to man the center position, with Vera-Tucker slated to play left guard next season.
Bell is not projected to be a first-round pick in this year’s draft. However, the Patriots will likely have the chance to select him as early as Day 2 of the draft, if he satisfies what the Patriots desire in an offensive lineman for the foreseeable future.
