One of North Carolina's premier high school football programs is undergoing a significant coaching change just as spring practices are set to begin.
Ranier Rackley, the highly successful head coach at Rolesville High School, has announced via Instagram that he is departing to join the Duke University football staff as the Director of Player Development. This move marks a major step up for Rackley, transitioning from the high school ranks to the ACC.
During his three-season tenure leading the Rams, Rackley compiled an impressive 25-8 record, establishing Rolesville as a consistent state power. His final season concluded with a 9-4 record and a No. 16 ranking in the final North Carolina high school football rankings.
In a heartfelt social media post, Rackley reflected on his time at Rolesville, stating, "This journey has been nothing short of God-ordained... I did my best to POUR into everyone I came in contact with." He emphasized that his move to Duke represents growth, not goodbye, closing with, "I’m stepping into a new chapter as The Director of Player Development at Duke University."
This is a substantial loss for the Rams but a major gain for Head Coach Manny Diaz's Duke Blue Devils. Rackley's proven ability to develop talent and build a winning culture at Rolesville will be a valuable asset as Duke looks to strengthen its program in a competitive conference.
For the vibrant Rams community, the search for a new leader begins immediately to maintain the standard of excellence Rackley helped establish. For Duke fans, it signals a program actively investing in player development and recruiting connections within the talent-rich state of North Carolina.
