In a commanding performance at Globe Life Field, the Texas Rangers snapped the Chicago Cubs' impressive 10-game winning streak with a decisive 6-0 shutout on Saturday night. The victory not only halted Chicago's second double-digit win streak of the season—a feat not seen by the Cubs since 1935—but also provided a much-needed boost for a Rangers team that had dropped five of their previous six contests.
Josh Jung wasted no time setting the tone, leading off the second inning with a solo home run that ended his own 0-for-13 slide following a 13-game hitting streak. Jung finished the night with three hits, looking every bit the All-Star caliber player fans have come to expect. Rookie Justin Foscue added to the excitement with his first career homer, a leadoff blast in the fifth inning that extended Texas' lead to 5-0. Alejandro Osuna contributed a pair of RBI singles, providing the Rangers with all the offense they would need.
On the mound, the Rangers pieced together a stellar bullpen effort after starter Jack Leiter battled through 4⅔ scoreless innings. Despite allowing nine baserunners and throwing 97 pitches, Leiter managed to keep the Cubs off the board thanks to six strikeouts and some timely defense. Jalen Beeks (2-1) retired all four batters he faced in relief, while Cole Winn and Gavin Collyer closed the door to complete the four-hit shutout—Texas' fourth of the season.
For the Cubs, Edward Cabrera (3-1) took the loss after surrendering five runs over five innings, striking out six but walking just one. Chicago (27-13) had been on a tear, winning 20 of their previous 23 games, with two separate 10-game win streaks sandwiching a brief three-game skid. The loss marked just the fourth time this season the Cubs have been held scoreless. Left fielder Ian Happ extended his on-base streak to 30 games with a first-inning walk, trailing only Oakland's Nick Kurtz (33 games) for the longest active streak in the majors.
