Randy Moss Has Some Thoughts on Kyler Murray

Hall of Famer Randy Moss has never lost touch with his roots, and the legendary wide receiver is keeping a close eye on his former team, the Minnesota Vikings. In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, Moss shared his take on the team's new quarterback, Kyler Murray, and the buzz is electric.

"I've always rooted for Minnesota," Moss said, reflecting on the Vikings' long search for stability under center. "When you look at the success of the team, either good or bad, it has been because of the quarterback play. You had Sam Darnold, you had Daniel Jones. But you go with the youngster McCarthy, and he was not able to provide that answer, so you had to go out and get a guy like Kyler Murray."

Moss believes Murray is poised for a breakout in the Twin Cities, especially with All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson lining up alongside him. "What I'm excited about is the opportunity in front of Kyler Murray," Moss explained. "He's got a great wide receiver in Justin Jefferson, who now can try to regain his dominance as the No. 1 wide receiver in all of football. Kyler Murray also has something to prove."

It's a sentiment that resonates with Vikings fans who remember the highs of 2022 under Kirk Cousins and the resurgence of Sam Darnold in 2024. When head coach Kevin O'Connell has a steady hand at quarterback, Minnesota has consistently won 13 or more games. But when injuries or instability creep in, the team often settles into mediocrity. Murray, Moss argues, could be the key to changing that narrative.

Selected first overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, Murray spent seven seasons in the desert, showing flashes of brilliance but never quite reaching the sustained success many predicted. Now, with a fresh start in Minnesota, the 5-foot-10 dynamo has a chance to rewrite his story. Training camp is still ahead, but optimism is building—and for good reason.

Moss summed it up best: "He was the future of the Arizona Cardinals, but they basically threw him away. If he's able to deliver the ball to Justin Jefferson, everything else with the defense and every other weapon will be fine. But all eyes will be on whether he can do that so they both can regain their dominance."

So, do you agree with Moss? With the regular season just four months away, Murray will soon have the chance to prove that the Vikings' gamble—and Moss's faith—was well placed. For now, fans can only wait and watch as the pieces fall into place.
