While adding a backup quarterback is on the list, it's not a crisis demanding an early-round pick. The prevailing expectation is that the Rams will target a wide receiver with the 13th overall selection, unless a top-tier defensive talent unexpectedly falls into their lap.

However, the intrigue builds later in the draft. ESPN's Matt Miller has linked the Rams to a prospect with a famous football pedigree: Missouri linebacker Josiah Trotter, the son of Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro Jeremiah Trotter. Following in the footsteps of his father and older brother, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Josiah represents a potential second-round target to bolster the Rams' linebacker corps.

"With receiver seeming like an obvious pick at No. 13, linebacker is the most likely direction in Round 2, especially if Josiah Trotter (Missouri) is available," Miller writes. The 61st overall pick could be the sweet spot for the Rams to add a player like Trotter, who brings more than just a notable last name.

His 2024 season at Missouri was highly productive, earning him First-team All-SEC honors. Trotter started every game, racking up 84 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two sacks, and a pass defended. At 6-foot-2 and 237 pounds, the 20-year-old may not be a first-round talent, but he presents excellent value as a developmental prospect with immediate special teams potential and a high football IQ ingrained from his family background.

Landing Josiah Trotter would be a savvy, fun addition for the Rams, injecting young talent and a legacy of defensive intensity into the heart of their defense for years to come.
