Los Angeles Rams rookie quarterback Ty Simpson is not worried about the criticism around being picked 13th overall.
Not many predicted that the Rams would take him at that spot; nonetheless, Simpson is now slated to be the heir apparent to the reigning MVP, Matthew Stafford.
That is the case when it comes to Simpson, and he is looking forward to learning from the 2025 MVP. After being selected by L.A., Simpson spoke to the media and expressed his excitement to learn under Stafford.
"(I admire) how cool, calm and collected he always is," Simpson said, "how he's so smart. He can manipulate the defense. And he's a gunslinger, like he has no fear. As a quarterback, you have to have no fear when you're in the huddle, and he slings that ball around and he makes other people better around him.
"I couldn't ask for a better situation."
While Simpson will be the next franchise quarterback for the Rams, when is the biggest question mark. There is a chance that the 38-year-old signal caller retires after the 2026 season; however, there is also a chance that he plays another two seasons. It's all a mystery as things stand.
The 23-year-old quarterback will eventually be thrust into the fire. However, the expectation is that it won't be the case until another few seasons, when he is a lot more mature and mentally prepared.
Simpson is no stranger to waiting on the bench. That was the case for the first three seasons of his college career at Alabama, and that will certainly be the case in 2026.
