Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams is making headlines for more than just his on-field performance this offseason—though this time, it's a battle scar from a paintball match that's got fans talking.
The star ball-carrier showed off a noticeable forehead welt on social media Friday, the result of a friendly paintball skirmish during the team's 2026 offseason program. The playful moment was first captured by Rams safety Nate Valcarcel, who posted an image of Williams' fresh red mark on Instagram with a teasing caption: "cool off that paintball." Williams, ever good-natured, quickly reposted the photo to his own account, giving fans a glimpse into the lighter side of NFL life.
This banter comes at a time of professional stability for Williams. Entering his fifth NFL season, the running back is locked in with a three-year, $33 million contract extension signed in August 2025. That financial security, he says, has been a game-changer for his mindset.
"Now that I know that I'm secure and I'm at home, this is what it's all about," Williams told reporters during April workouts. "Now I can just go out there and play football."
And play football he does. Williams finished the 2025 regular season with 1,252 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming the first Rams runner to record three straight 1,000-yard seasons since franchise legend Steven Jackson, who achieved an incredible eight-season streak from 2005 to 2012.
For Valcarcel, the offseason camaraderie is part of his journey as an undrafted free agent who joined the Rams in 2025. After spending his rookie year on the practice squad, the second-year safety signed a reserve/future contract in January and is now competing for a permanent role in the defensive secondary.
The Rams kicked off Phase One of their voluntary offseason program on April 20, with Organized Team Activities set to begin May 26. Head coach Sean McVay hopes these early bonding moments—paintball welts and all—help build the chemistry needed for another Super Bowl run.
Whether on the field or off, Kyren Williams continues to show why he's a fan favorite: tough, focused, and always ready for a little friendly competition.
