It didn't take long for the Mountaineers to make a statement on Monday afternoon, batting through the lineup twice in the first to jump all over the Timberwolves 22-6 in five innings in White Pass.
Twenty batters were sent to the plate in a 15-run top of the first for Rainier (4-6, 2-1 C2BL), which has won three of its last five games after a 1-4 start. There were 10 singles in the frame plus Ryleigh Cruse and Mia Naval each had RBI doubles.
Cruse finished her day 6-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, three runs batted in and four runs scored. Layla Hill had three hits and three stolen bases while Naval recorded three hits and drove in three. The Mountaineers 22 runs is the most since putting up 19 in the season-opener.
They also drew 15 walks to just five strikeouts. Elaina and Elly Henry combined for eight strikeouts in the circle. Rainier faces Adna in its next contest on Thursday.
MWP (5-5, 0-2) scored two runs apiece in the second, third and fourth innings. Alyssa Kampa and Divine Bieber each drove in two runs for the T-Wolves, who will take on Oakville in a non-league doubleheader on Wednesday.
