Raiders waive DE Charles Snowden, make several other roster moves

Defensive end Charles Snowden started 18 games for the Raiders the last two seasons, but he's not in new head coach Klint Kubiak's plans for 2026.

The Las Vegas Raiders are shaking up their roster as new head coach Klint Kubiak puts his stamp on the team heading into the 2026 season. The most notable move? The decision to waive defensive end Charles Snowden, a player who started 18 games over the past two years but apparently doesn't fit into Kubiak's evolving game plan.

Snowden, who suited up for 31 total games with the Raiders, leaves behind a solid stat line: 67 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and an interception. While those numbers show he contributed on the field, the coaching staff is clearly looking in a new direction as they build their defensive identity.

But Snowden wasn't the only one shown the door. The Raiders also parted ways with guard McClendon Curtis, tight end Matt Lauter, and guard Layden Robinson. These cuts were made to free up roster spots for players who impressed during tryouts at the team's rookie minicamp—a classic sign of a coaching staff eager to find hidden gems and inject fresh energy into the squad.

Stepping into those newly opened slots are safety Devyn Perkins, offensive tackles Niklas Henning and Kamar Missouri, and tight end Patrick Gurd. For these newcomers, the opportunity is huge: a chance to prove they belong in the NFL and earn a permanent spot on a team in transition.

For Raiders fans, these moves signal that no job is safe under the new regime. As Kubiak reshapes the roster in his image, expect more tough decisions ahead—and plenty of new faces ready to make their mark.
