Jon Rahm will be eligible for next year's Ryder Cup in Ireland after striking a deal to continue playing on the DP World Tour.

In a major boost for European golf, Jon Rahm has secured his spot for the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor in Ireland after reaching a landmark agreement with the DP World Tour. The Spanish superstar, who had been locked in a heated dispute over his participation in LIV Golf events, will now pay approximately £2 million in fines and commit to playing a minimum of five DP World Tour tournaments.

Rahm's eligibility had been hanging in the balance since he joined the breakaway LIV circuit in 2024, refusing to pay penalties for playing without official permission. The 31-year-old, who had remained confident throughout the negotiations that a resolution would be found, can now breathe a sigh of relief. This deal comes just weeks after Saudi Arabia announced it would stop funding the LIV Golf League beyond 2026, adding even more intrigue to the evolving professional golf landscape.

For Europe's Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald, this is nothing short of fantastic news. Rahm has been a cornerstone of European success in the biennial event, playing in four contests and helping the continent secure three victories, including the last two in Rome and New York. His partnership with fellow LIV star Tyrrell Hatton has been particularly lethal—the duo remains unbeaten in five matches together, with four wins and one halve.

Rahm's Ryder Cup record is impressive across the board: nine wins, five losses, and three halves in 17 matches. Most notably, he boasts a perfect 6-0 record in foursomes, dominating American pairings every time he steps onto the course. Hatton is among eight other players who have already agreed to similar terms with the DP World Tour, though they are required to play at least six events rather than Rahm's five.

With the 2027 Ryder Cup set for September 17-19 at the stunning Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, European fans can now look forward to seeing their star player in action. The stage is set for another chapter in one of golf's greatest rivalries—and Rahm will be right in the middle of it.
