Ceddanne Rafaela homered and drove in four runs, and the Boston Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers for the second straight night with a 10-3 victory on Tuesday night.

Ceddanne Rafaela put on a show Tuesday night, crushing a home run and driving in four runs to lead the Boston Red Sox to a commanding 10-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers. The win marked Boston's second straight triumph in the Motor City, giving them a 4-2 season edge over Detroit.

The game was packed with drama from the first pitch. Rafaela launched a three-run homer in the opening inning to stake the Red Sox to an early 3-0 lead. The Tigers answered back with two runs off opener Jovani Moran in the bottom of the first, but that was as close as they'd get.

Boston's bats stayed hot in the third inning, stringing together a walk and five consecutive singles to push the lead to 8-2. The fireworks continued in the fourth when Willson Contreras crushed a 449-foot blast over the left-center field bullpen, pausing to admire his work. Two pitches later, Wilyer Abreu followed with a 109-mph line drive down the right-field line for the Red Sox's third homer of the night.

The tension boiled over when Tigers starter Framber Valdez (2-2) plunked Trevor Story in the back with a 94-mph fastball on his next pitch. Both benches emptied, though no punches were thrown, and Valdez was ejected by third-base umpire Dan Iassogna. He finished with a career-high 10 runs allowed and three home runs surrendered.

On the mound, Brayan Bello (2-4) was the steady hand Boston needed. Taking over for Moran in the second inning, the right-hander allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. It was a welcome bounce-back performance after losing his last three starts.

Matt Vierling homered for Detroit, but the Tigers have now lost five of their last eight games. The two teams will wrap up the three-game series Wednesday night, with Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty (0-2, 5.90 ERA) taking the mound.
