Emma Raducanu is set to make her long-awaited return to the tennis court, accepting a wildcard entry into the Strasbourg Open as she builds momentum ahead of the French Open. The 23-year-old British No. 1 hasn't competed since early March, when she fell to Amanda Anisimova in the third round at Indian Wells. A post-viral infection forced her to withdraw from the Italian Open earlier this month, but now she's ready to step back into the spotlight.

Strasbourg, a WTA 500 clay-court event kicking off Sunday, offers the perfect testing ground just one week before Roland Garros begins on May 24. Raducanu knows the tournament well—last year, she also received a wildcard there and delivered an impressive performance, taking down top-20 star Daria Kasatkina before bowing out to American Danielle Collins.

This season has been a mixed bag for the 2021 US Open champion. She's won seven of her 14 matches, with a standout run to the final of the Transylvania Open in February, following a second-round exit at the Australian Open. Currently ranked No. 30 in the world, Raducanu will likely slip in the rankings after this week's events in Rome and Paris, which means she'll miss out on a seeded spot at the French Open.

Despite the setbacks, Raducanu remains focused on her long-term health. After her Italian Open withdrawal—announced just 30 minutes after she spoke to the media—she made it clear she won't return to competition until she's "100% ready." With Strasbourg on the horizon, fans will be eager to see if that patience pays off on the clay.
