Emma Raducanu is eyeing a return to the WTA Tour at the Strasbourg Open in two weeks, following her withdrawal from the Italian Open due to health concerns. The 23-year-old British No. 1 has been sidelined since March with a post-viral infection, but she's now targeting the WTA 500 event starting May 17 as her comeback stage. However, she missed the entry deadline, so her participation hinges on receiving a wildcard—a scenario that played out successfully last year when she stunned top-20 player Daria Kasatkina before falling to Danielle Collins.

Raducanu's path back to the court hasn't been smooth. She pulled out of the Italian Open late Tuesday, just minutes after completing media interviews, as she doesn't feel fully recovered from the virus that kept her off tour for six weeks. "I had six weeks almost of doing nothing just trying to recover from the virus, and it takes a lot out of you physically," she told BBC Sport before her withdrawal. The Strasbourg tournament, a key warm-up for the French Open, hasn't yet confirmed a wildcard, but Raducanu's fans will be watching closely. If she does compete, she'll be unseeded at Roland Garros, adding an extra layer of challenge to her comeback bid.
