Emma Raducanu could be in line to face Madison Keys in a blockbuster second-round clash as he prepares for her first clay tournament of 2026 at the Internationaux de Strasbourg.

Emma Raducanu is set to make her long-awaited return to the WTA Tour at the Internationaux de Strasbourg, marking her first competitive action since early March. The 23-year-old Brit, who has been sidelined for over two months with a post-viral illness, will kick off her clay-court campaign against France's Diane Parry. If she advances, a potential blockbuster second-round showdown against former Australian Open champion Madison Keys awaits.

"Post-viral, it's quite hard," Raducanu admitted to reporters in Rome. "You feel drained. You feel tired. No energy. It's difficult, and it lingered for quite a while. Right now, I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent. I'm still building my way back."

This tournament in Strasbourg is a crucial stepping stone for Raducanu as she prepares for the French Open, which begins on May 24. The former US Open champion accepted a top-30 replacement spot in the WTA 500 event, and she'll be joined by Andrew Richardson, the coach who guided her to that stunning New York triumph in 2021. Their reunion comes after Raducanu faced criticism for parting ways with Richardson shortly after her breakthrough win, citing a need for more WTA Tour experience at the time.

Raducanu's 2026 season has been a mixed bag so far. She reached the final in Transylvania but suffered early exits in Dubai and Qatar, followed by a third-round showing at Indian Wells. Now, with a clean slate on clay, she'll look to build momentum in Strasbourg's competitive field, which includes rising star Victoria Mboko, veteran Ekaterina Alexandrova, and American teenager Iva Jovic, alongside Clara Tauson, Liudmila Samsonova, Marie Bouzkova, and Leylah Fernandez.

For tennis fans, this is a must-watch event. Raducanu's path could see her face Parry first, then Keys, followed by a potential quarterfinal against Jovic. A deep run would not only boost her confidence but also provide valuable match play ahead of Roland Garros. As Tim Henman noted, the decision to bring back Richardson signals a focused approach for what promises to be a huge summer of tennis.
