The New England Patriots' rookie class is facing an early controversy, as seventh-round draft pick Quintayvious Hutchins has been charged with domestic assault and battery. The former Boston College captain's NFL future is now uncertain following an incident on campus.

According to a report from the Boston College Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance at Voute Hall just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday. A resident advisor reported seeing Hutchins and a woman "pushing each other" in a hallway, with the RA stating she witnessed the linebacker grab the woman "by the neck." The report also notes that the woman was seen crying during the altercation, and that Hutchins allegedly accused her of cheating.

However, when police interviewed the woman involved, she stated that "nothing happened" and declined to file a restraining order or seek any assistance. She also refused the officer's request to photograph her neck.

The Patriots, who selected Hutchins in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft less than three weeks ago, released a statement acknowledging the situation. "We are aware of the report involving Quintayvious Hutchins. We take these matters very seriously and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have further comment at this time," the team said.

Hutchins, a native of Bessemer, Alabama, signed his rookie contract just last Thursday. During his senior season at Boston College, where he served as team captain, the linebacker recorded 35 tackles and seven quarterback hurries. This incident now casts a shadow over what was supposed to be the beginning of his professional career.
