One quarterback draft prospect in particular seems to have the Jacksonville Jaguars' attention.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are doing their homework on potential future quarterbacks, and one name has emerged from their virtual meetings: Texas Tech's Behren Morton. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Morton confirmed the Jaguars are among the teams he has recently met with via Zoom, a key part of the pre-draft process as the team won't be hosting prospects for official visits.

Morton brings significant college experience to the table, with nearly 1,400 dropbacks over his four seasons at Texas Tech. His development trajectory is notable; from 2023 through 2025, he consistently improved his completion percentage and yards per pass attempt, according to Pro Football Focus. His most statistically impressive season was 2024, where he threw for 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns. However, 2025 might have been his most efficient, as he set personal bests in those key accuracy and production metrics.

A hallmark of Morton's game has been ball security. Over his career, he's thrown 71 touchdowns while never tossing more than eight interceptions in a single season, demonstrating a reliable decision-making process within Texas Tech's Air Raid offense.

Expressing excitement for the next level, Morton told Sports Illustrated, "I’m going to walk into a quarterback room that already has a veteran in it. I’m going to learn from him... I’m going to maximize every opportunity that comes my way." This attitude suggests a player ready to develop behind an established starter.

Currently, Morton is viewed as a late-round prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, ranked 297th on the consensus big board, which positions him as a potential Day 3 pick or priority undrafted free agent. His pre-draft evaluation comes with some questions, primarily concerning arm strength. NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein noted in his scouting report that Morton "appears to lack the functional arm talent to push the ball into windows or beat safeties over the top," which will be a key area for teams to assess.

For the Jaguars, who are building around Trevor Lawrence, identifying a capable developmental quarterback is a smart long-term strategy. Morton represents an experienced, productive college passer who could compete for a backup role and provide depth, making him a logical name for the team's draft board as they plan for the future.
