Purdue basketball is heating up its non-conference slate with a fresh addition that promises to bring some serious March Madness energy to Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers have scheduled a Dec. 21 matchup against Cal Baptist, a team that just punched its ticket to the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
Coming off a stellar 25-9 season, the Lancers made history with their first-ever NCAA appearance, falling to Kansas in the opening round. Since transitioning from Division II to Division I in 2018, Cal Baptist has been on the rise, and this game gives Purdue a chance to test itself against a hungry, tournament-tested squad.
For the Boilermakers, who posted a 30-9 record and reached the Elite Eight last season, this is just one piece of a challenging non-conference puzzle. The schedule already features a Nov. 2 showdown with Gonzaga in Las Vegas, a Dec. 12 home game against Tennessee, and a road trip to Iowa State—a return game after the Cyclones visited Mackey Arena last season. Purdue is also reportedly hosting Valparaiso and Illinois State, the latter featuring former Boilermaker Ethan Morton as director of basketball operations.
With the Big Ten schedule now released, including home-and-away series against Indiana, Illinois, and Rutgers, the Boilermakers are stacking up a season that demands focus from day one. Whether you're gearing up for the big games or just looking to rep your team in style, this is the kind of schedule that gets fans excited—and ready to suit up for every tip-off.
