Paris Saint-Germain have opted not to re-sign teenage defender Joane Gadou, paving the way for the 19-year-old to join Borussia Dortmund, according to RMC Sport.
Gadou, who left PSG's youth academy in 2024 without making a first-team appearance, was highly regarded within the club's ranks. His potential convinced Red Bull Salzburg to invest €10m in his services, where he has since developed into a promising centre-back with regular playing time in Austria.
Now, Borussia Dortmund have swooped in to secure the young talent, with a deal reportedly agreed before the summer transfer window officially opens. As part of the original sale to Salzburg, PSG held a right of first refusal—a clause that would have allowed them to match any offer and bring Gadou back to the French capital.
However, the Ligue 1 champions have chosen to pass on that opportunity. According to RMC Sport, Gadou has signed a five-year contract with Dortmund in a transfer worth €20m, with an additional €6m in potential performance-related bonuses. Despite letting him go, PSG will still benefit financially, pocketing €2m from the transaction.
For football fans and scouts alike, this move highlights Dortmund's continued strategy of investing in high-upside young defenders—a trend that often translates into exciting new kits and merchandise for the Bundesliga giants.
