Gerwyn Price will swap darts for a cue to compete in the 2026 UK Open Pool Championship.

Gerwyn Price is trading his darts for a cue stick, as the former darts world champion prepares to take on a new challenge at the 2026 UK Open Pool Championship. Known as "The Iceman" for his cool composure under pressure, Price—who claimed the PDC World Darts Championship title in 2021 and currently sits seventh in the PDC Order of Merit—already dipped his toes into the pool world last year, competing in an exhibition pro-am event at the Mosconi Cup held at Alexandra Palace.

Now, he's set to dive deeper into the sport, joining a massive field of 256 players at the Brentwood Centre in Essex from May 25-30. The event features 128 professional players from over 50 countries, alongside amateur entrants in an open format that promises plenty of drama and surprises. However, Price's schedule could get tricky: the final night of the 2026 Premier League Darts takes place on May 28 at the O2 in London, potentially creating a clash. With Price currently sitting third in the Premier League standings after 12 of 16 events, he's in prime position to qualify for the finals—meaning he might have to juggle two high-stakes competitions.

The UK Open Pool Championship has quickly gained prestige, with Singapore's Aloysius Yapp taking the title last year in a dominant 13-1 victory over Spain's Jonas Souto in Telford. For Price, this crossover into pool isn't just a side gig—it's a chance to showcase his versatility and competitive spirit. Whether he's throwing darts or sinking balls, fans can expect the Iceman to bring his trademark intensity to the table.
