Class of 2023: Consensus 3-star, No. 78 ranked athlete, per 247Sports
After starting off his college football career at Iowa State as a member of the Cyclones' Class of 2023, Carson Hansen was among the many Iowa State players to transfer to Penn State following the hiring of Matt Campbell in Happy Valley.
Hansen had a decorated career at Iowa State, rushing the ball 361 times for 1,771 yards and 19 touchdowns during his three seasons. He also caught 43 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns during that same period.
Hansen comes to Penn State as the most accomplished running back on the roster by a mile, but he will be competing with a ton of talent. He is certainly one of the lead contenders to be the starter, but that is far from a guarantee with multiple four-star prospects in the rotation with him.
The former Cyclones running back was a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in high school.
