Penn State football will have a completely overhauled roster to get to know in 2026 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Following one of the most active offseasons in recent memory for Penn State with a flurry of activity in the transfer portal, fans will have a lot of catching up to do in getting to know this year's Penn State roster. Fortunately, not every face will be brand new to fans. Regardless, we will be here to give you a fresh overview of every player on the roster for the 2026 season with a series of player profiles.

From all of the returning players, a long list of new faces from the transfer portal, and incoming recruits from the Class of 2026, we will have you covered with this year's player profiles for the Penn State roster. Here is a quick look at cornerback Tyrell Chatman for the 2026 season.

Class of 2026: Composite three-star prospect, No. 50 safety per 247Sports

Chatman was one of many flips for the Nittany Lions from Iowa State in the 2026 recruiting cycle. After de-committing from the Cyclones in December 2025, he officially signed with Penn State in February.

Chatman has not yet played a snap for the Nittany Lions. However, in his high school career at Lincoln North Star, he recorded 88 tackles, 21 pass breakups and four interceptions.

Chatman could actually end up being a likely candidate to redshirt his freshman season as the depth of the cornerback room in Happy Valley does not allow for many snaps for underclassmen. Still, the fact he is already gaining muscle and willing to put in the work shows he could be one of the Nittany Lions' more intriguing defensive prospects.

Chatman actually flipped his commitment twice last cycle, originally signing on to paly for Northern Illinois, before making the switch to Iowa State, and then to Penn State.
