As the 2026 NFL Draft approaches, the Jacksonville Jaguars' roster is under the microscope. With the event set for April 23-25, the focus shifts to how the team can build for the future. While missing a first-round pick, General Manager James Gladstone holds significant capital with 11 total selections—tied for the second-most in the league—including four within the top 100. This provides ample opportunity to shape the roster, starting with a critical look at the running back room.

The backfield has seen notable changes this offseason. Veteran playmaker Travis Etienne departed in free agency, signing a lucrative four-year deal with the New Orleans Saints. In response, the Jaguars bolstered their ground game by signing Chris Rodriguez to a two-year contract, adding a powerful, between-the-tackles runner to the mix.

Currently, the Jaguars have five running backs under contract, creating a competitive environment for training camp. The likely early-down duo appears to be Chris Rodriguez and the promising Bhayshul Tuten, offering a blend of power and elusiveness. For passing situations, LeQuint Allen’s skill set makes him a prime candidate for third-down snaps. This group provides a solid foundation, but with a deep draft haul, Jacksonville has the flexibility to add a dynamic rookie who can bring a new dimension to the offense without neglecting other pressing needs.

As the draft board takes shape, all eyes will be on which running back—if any—the Jaguars target to complement their evolving offensive identity. The depth of this year's class could present a valuable opportunity to find a future star in the mid-to-late rounds.
