The Michigan baseball team has won five series in a row, and an opportunity for a sixth is on the line this weekend at Maryland. Here’s a closer look at the series with the Terrapins:

The Michigan Wolverines baseball team is riding a wave of momentum, and they're not ready to cool off just yet. After a rocky 1-5 start to Big Ten play, the Wolverines have turned their season around in spectacular fashion, winning five consecutive series. Now sitting at 27-17 overall and 12-9 in conference action, Michigan is one of the hottest teams in the league—and this weekend's road trip to Maryland presents a golden opportunity to keep that streak alive.

The Terrapins, meanwhile, are having a tough season. With a 22-23 overall record and a 6-15 mark in Big Ten play, Maryland is near the bottom of the standings. But don't let that record fool you—this lineup can rake. The Terrapins boast five players hitting above .300, which means Michigan's pitching staff will need to be sharp from the first pitch.

Leading the charge for Maryland is Brayden Martin, who's torching the ball with a .361 batting average. He's not a home run hitter—just two dingers on the year—but he's driven in 33 runs and consistently finds ways to get on base. Ty Kaunas offers more power, hitting .315 with five homers and 37 RBIs. David Mendez is another threat, tied for the team lead with 38 RBIs and seven home runs while batting .312. Paul Jones II adds six homers and 31 RBIs to go with a .306 average.

But the most dangerous bat in the Maryland order might be Jordan Crosland. He leads the Terrapins with 10 home runs and is tied with Mendez for the team lead in RBIs with 38, all while hitting .305. When Crosland steps to the plate, Michigan will need to be on high alert.

So where's the weakness? On the mound. Maryland's pitching staff has struggled mightily this season, and that's where Michigan can seize control. The Terrapins' likely starters include Lance Williams and Nic Morlang, but neither has been dominant. Morlang has started 10 games, pitching 35.2 innings with a 7.57 ERA, while Williams has a 7.43 ERA—the best among Maryland's regular starters. That's not exactly a vote of confidence.

For Michigan, this series is about staying hot and proving that their turnaround is no fluke. With every remaining opponent sitting below them in the standings, the Wolverines have a clear path to climb even higher. If their bats stay alive and their pitchers can handle Maryland's potent lineup, another series win is well within reach.

First pitch is set for Friday. Time to see if Michigan can make it six straight series victories.
