Talk about a pitcher's duel. On Friday, Bell High School senior Jayden Rojas delivered a masterclass, striking out 14 batters and allowing just one hit in a nail-biting 1-0 victory over Roosevelt. The right-hander was utterly dominant, retiring the first 18 batters he faced in order before a leadoff single in the seventh inning broke up his perfect game bid. He even helped his own cause, driving in the game's only run with a clutch RBI single in the fifth.

"I wanted to attack," Rojas said of his mindset. "I felt more confident throwing fastballs." His coach, Frank Medina, praised the efficiency of the performance, noting Rojas avoided his usual deep counts. "He was dialed in on the mound... He was nasty." The win improves Bell's impressive record to 19-3.

Elsewhere in high school baseball, the action was just as intense. In the West Valley League, Granada Hills completed a crucial two-game sweep of Cleveland behind strong pitching from Foss Bohlen, while El Camino Real stayed atop the standings with a dramatic 5-3, nine-inning win over Taft.

The Mission League saw a shift at the top, as Harvard-Westlake's 10-4 win over Sherman Oaks Notre Dame propelled them into first place. In a true thriller, Bishop Alemany staged an unbelievable seven-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to stun Chaminade 14-13, winning on a bases-loaded walk.

Other notable performances included Noah Everly's two-homer day for St. John Bosco and a combined shutout from Birmingham's Nathan Soto and Aidan Martinez, who also contributed three hits at the plate. It was a day defined by standout pitching and late-inning drama, showcasing the incredible talent at the prep level.
