Baseball: Eastside Edges Fairfield in High-Scoring Affair
Fairfield managed only one hit but still crossed the plate seven times Tuesday afternoon. However, it wasn't enough as Eastside capitalized on defensive miscues to score nine runs and secure the win in Benton. Landon Beasy delivered the big blow with a three-run double, while Kyler Castetter drove in the Falcons' only other run. Fairfield now sits at 4-11 overall and 1-5 in NECC play.
Westview Holds Off Jimtown Rally
Westview built a commanding 9-0 lead, but had to survive a fierce Jimtown comeback Tuesday in Emma. The Warriors racked up nine runs on nine hits, while the Jimmies answered with eight runs on eight hits. Jaxon Christner starred at the plate, going 3-for-3 and scoring three times. Owen Weinberg earned the win after throwing six solid innings, and Elijah Zolman slammed the door with a perfect seventh, striking out all three batters for the save. Westview improves to 4-9.
Softball: Fairfield Rallies Past Eastside
Fairfield bounced back in a big way, crushing Eastside 11-2 while taking full advantage of six Blazer errors. Preslee Caouette led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBIs. Madison Jones earned the complete-game win, tossing five innings and allowing just five hits. The Falcons now boast a strong 14-3 record (5-1 NECC).
Wawasee Runs Roughshod Over Northridge
Wawasee put on an offensive clinic in a five-inning rout at Syracuse Tuesday. The Warriors exploded for 11 runs in the second inning alone and held a 17-2 lead after three frames. Melissa Bontrager was a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Heatherlynn Holder also drove in four runs. Rachel Humbarger had two hits for Northridge. Wawasee improves to 10-8 (5-2 NLC), while Northridge drops to 7-5 (4-3 NLC).
Westview's Late Surge Secures Win
Westview erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Hamilton, outhitting their opponents 13-4 for a nonconference victory. Myra Miller drove in four runs on two hits, Jillian Bontrager added three RBIs, and Janissa Lehman went 3-for-4. Westview improves to 6-2.
Golf: Fairfield Takes Team Title
On the links, Fairfield topped both Central Noble and Prairie Heights Tuesday with a team score of 170. Jake Elliott led all golfers with a 39, followed by Jayce Smith (43), Ben Kio (44), and Brett Schrock (44). The Falcons now stand at 9-2 overall and 7-1 in NECC action.
Tennis: Bethany Christian, Northridge, Fairfield Shine
Bethany Christian swept Lakeland with four courts winning by perfect 6-0, 6-0 scores. The Bruins improve to 6-1 on the season.
Northridge defeated Concord in Middlebury behind strong performances from Elaina Duthie (1S: 6-0, 6-1), Ava Kauffman (2S: 6-1, 6-4), Jade Snyder (3S: 6-1, 6-1), and the doubles team of Jovi Schmidt and Brooklyn Vasil (2D: 6-4, 6-1). Concord's lone win came at No. 1 doubles from Stella Judd and Lidea Shell (6-4, 7-5). Northridge improves to 11-4 (5-0 NLC), while Concord falls to 2-9 (2-4 NLC).
Fairfield earned its eighth victory of the season by defeating Prairie Heights, with wins at No. 2 singles (Allie Stahly, 6-1, 7-5), No. 3 singles (Maylin Maust, 6-0, 6-0), No. 1 doubles (Vienna Griffith and Zuri Buckholz, 6-1, 6-2), and No. 2 doubles.
