Apr. 17—FALKVILLE — Falkville softball coach Christy Ferguson reached a career milestone Thursday night, winning her 400th game as a head coach with the Blue Devils' 16-6 victory over Decatur Heritage. In the world of high school softball, milestones are a testament to dedication, and Falkville's Christy Ferguson just etched her name deeper into the record books. On Thursday night, Coach Ferguson secured her monumental 400th career victory as her Blue Devils powered past Decatur Heritage with a decisive 16-6 win.

Now in her 13th season as a head coach, Ferguson's impressive resume includes stints at Hartselle and Danville, where she built a legacy of winning. She guided Hartselle to state championships in 2014 and 2018 and led Danville to the state tournament just last year, proving her ability to build champions wherever she goes.

Reflecting on the achievement, Ferguson credited her support system. "I've been blessed to do what I love for 28 years, 13 as a head coach," she said. "I wouldn't be here without my assistant coaches, players, and family. They've all played a huge part in this journey."

The milestone victory was a team effort. Harper Ward drove in three runs, Peyton Holloway added three hits, and pitcher Karsyn Echols sealed the deal, allowing five hits and striking out 13 batters. For Decatur Heritage, Brinley Aldridge led the effort with two RBIs.

Now in her second season at Falkville, Ferguson shows no signs of slowing down. The young talent on her current squad has reignited her passion. "500 could definitely be in sight," she admitted, "but the real goal is always chasing that blue trophy. That's what drives me."

In other local action, the night was filled with standout performances. Hartselle dominated Decatur 18-0 behind home runs from Amelia Fox, Katie Norgard, and Hat Peterson. West Morgan edged out Good Hope 8-4 thanks to a three-RBI night from Melea Harris, while Ardmore's Makena Hall homered and drove in four runs in a 17-2 rout of Buckhorn.

The games kept coming as Hazel Green topped Austin 10-6, Huntsville narrowly defeated West Limestone 3-2, and Hoover outlasted Athens 10-7. Elsewhere, Central-Florence handled Hatton 13-3, Florence beat East Limestone 7-2, and in a baseball highlight, Lindsay Lane's Grayson Miller drove in four runs to lead the 2A No. 1 Lions past Decatur Heritage 13-1.
