Badin's baseball team continues to rewrite the script on their season, storming back to defeat Elder 5-2 on Wednesday and extending their winning streak to an impressive 15 games. After a modest 4-3 start, the Rams have been unstoppable, now sitting at 19-3 overall with a perfect 10-0 record in Greater Catholic League Co-Ed play.
The Panthers drew first blood, jumping out to a 2-0 lead, but Badin showed their championship mettle in the fourth inning, plating two runs to even the score. The Rams then seized control for good in the fifth, pushing across three more runs to put the game out of reach. Keegan Sawyer was a force at the plate, lining a double and a triple, while Vince Laugle and Austin Vangen each drove in two runs to lead the offensive charge.
With momentum squarely on their side, the Rams look ahead to a busy week: a Thursday matchup against Springboro, followed by a marquee showdown against Centerville at the iconic Great American Ball Park on Saturday. It's a fitting stage for a team playing at an elite level.
Elsewhere on the diamond, Northmont rolled past Graham 15-4, powered by Austin Welch's four RBI on two hits and Chase Fuduloff's two hits and two RBI. In a heated rivalry clash, Lakota East edged Lakota West 3-2, with Brayden Reinhart delivering an RBI-double and Connor Magato and Gavin Byrd each driving in a run. Kameron Gaalaas provided the lone highlight for West with a solo home run.
Tippecanoe rallied for an 8-6 win over Butler in a Reds Futures High School Showcase game, with Ethan Harney earning PNC Bank MVP honors after driving in four runs on three hits. Urbana dismantled Hilliard Darby 14-1, as Kevin Endres smashed a double and a home run, finishing with four RBI, while Grady Lantz added two extra-base hits and three RBI.
Tecumseh took down Fairborn 9-3, led by Brandon Radford's double and three RBI and Chase Howard's two hits and two RBI. Monroe improved to 17-4 with a 9-1 victory over Franklin, as Dawson Watts and Ethan Ensor combined on a three-hitter and Keegan O'Hara legged out a triple with two RBI. Edgewood edged Carroll 6-4, with Carson Downie breaking the single-season strikeout record, notching his 82nd of the year.
Middletown Madison squeaked past Carlisle 4-3, thanks to Owen King's complete game victory. In extra innings, Mississinawa Valley topped Twin Valley South 1-0 in the eighth, as Cole Hanes scored Caleb Spradling on a sacrifice fly. Carlisle extended its win streak to nine games with a 12-2 playoff-opening win over Waynesville.
On the softball side, Springfield Shawnee dominated Milton-Union 17-0, with Scarlett Crawford and Nicole Greene each driving in four runs and Kelty Hannan and Katie Peterson combining for the shutout. Arcanum blanked Dixie 10-0, as Cam Garbig struck out seven over five shutout innings and helped her own cause with two doubles and a home run, while Jordyn Garbig added a homer of her own. Miami East rolled to its 13th straight victory, crushing Dayton Christian 25-1 in their playoff opener, and Covington shut out Jackson Center 21-0 behind Jayda McClure's strong performance.
